ZPMC installs wind-resistant quay crane at Qingdao Dagang Terminal

ZPMC has installed a new wind-resistant quay crane at Qingdao Dagang Terminal in China. The crane is designed to withstand wind gusts of nearly 210 kilometres per hour . According to ZPMC, the new design reduces wind load by 80% compared with conventional crane designs. New design targets extreme wind conditions ZPMC has introduced several structural features to improve the crane’s resistance to strong winds. These include elliptical columns and a streamlined frame structure.

COSCO denies US allegations of intelligence gathering aboard vessels

COSCO Shipping has rejected US allegations that equipment aboard its vessels was used to collect intelligence for Beijing. The Chinese shipping group called the claims “totally unfounded” and false. The denial follows a Reuters report based on information from two senior US administration officials. US officials accuse COSCO of intelligence gathering with concealed ship equipment COSCO rejects intelligence claims The US officials spoke on condition of anonymity. They alleged that COSCO used concealed equipment aboard its vessels to collect military communications near several countries, including the United States.

CMA CGM announces new surcharges and Kenya cargo requirements

CMA CGM has announced several updates affecting cargo to the Maldives, Kenya and Latin America. The changes include new surcharges and documentation requirements. Maldives surcharge rises to US$450 per TEU CMA CGM will introduce a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) on cargo from the Far East to the Maldives . The surcharge will initially be US$150 per TEU from 12 September 2026. It will then increase to US$450 per TEU from 15 September .
