The visit centred on two interconnected strategic priorities: the role of the Ligurian ports within the TEN-T network and the upgrading of inland rail connections linking Mediterranean ports with Europe’s major manufacturing and consumer centres. The New Breakwater of Genoa, designed to accommodate the next generation of ultra-large vessels and support the growth of international trade, was a key focus of discussions.
