EU TEN-T coordinator advances Mediterranean corridor rail and infrastructure dialogue

Mathieu Grosch, European Coordinator of the TEN-T Mediterranean Corridor, conducted an on-site visit to the Ports of Genoa accompanied by Matteo Paroli, President of the Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority, inspecting terminals and facilities by vessel operated by the Italian Coast Guard. The high-level delegation included Liguria Region President Marco Bucci, Government Commissioner for the Terzo Valico High-speed/High-capacity Railway Link Calogero Mauceri and Maritime Director of Liguria Admiral Antonio Ranieri. The visit centred on two interconnected strategic priorities: the role of the Ligurian ports within the TEN-T network and the upgrading of inland rail connections linking Mediterranean ports with Europe’s major manufacturing and consumer centres. The New Breakwater of Genoa, designed to accommodate the next generation of ultra-large vessels and support the growth of international trade, was a key focus of discussions.
