The theft of high-value technology being shipped in the US is increasingly being driven by diversified transnational criminal enterprises using the same illicit logistics networks that move narcotics, weapons, and people. According to supply chain intelligence company Overhaul, thefts involving data centre equipment, computing components, and chips have increased by 38% since 2024, while the total value of goods stolen has risen by more than 110%. Port of Lázaro Cárdenas reports higher cargo volumes

The Port of Lázaro Cárdenas handled 17,480,520 tonnes of commercial cargo through July 2026, an increase of 14% from the same period in 2025. The Mexican port also recorded 1,049 vessel calls during the reported period. Container traffic increases Containerised cargo accounted for 49% of the port’s total throughput. Mineral bulk represented 36%, while general cargo contributed 5%. Vehicles, agricultural bulk, petroleum products and other liquid cargoes accounted for the remaining 10%.
