King Ocean will replace its Panama Canal Freshwater Surcharge with a new Panama Crossing Surcharge for cargo moving to and from Ecuador and Peru. The change will take effect on 14 October 2026 and will apply to both southbound and northbound shipments. According to the carrier, the new surcharge reflects increased costs associated with transiting the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal Freshwater Surcharge will expire when the new charge takes effect. Container size and type Expiring Freshwater Surcharge New Panama Crossing Surcharge 20-foot, any type US$125 US$275 40-foot, any type US$250 US$550 The new charge represents an increase of US$150 for a 20-foot container and US$300 for a 40-foot container.
