King Ocean introduces Panama Crossing Surcharge for Ecuador and Peru cargo

King Ocean will replace its Panama Canal Freshwater Surcharge with a new Panama Crossing Surcharge for cargo moving to and from Ecuador and Peru. The change will take effect on 14 October 2026 and will apply to both southbound and northbound shipments. According to the carrier, the new surcharge reflects increased costs associated with transiting the Panama Canal. The Panama Canal Freshwater Surcharge will expire when the new charge takes effect.
