Port of New York and New Jersey authorises expansion at Newark Liberty International Airport

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Board of Commissioners has authorised US$ 110 million toward the expansion of Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport, advancing a project designed to increase the terminal’s capacity and improve the passenger experience at one of the region’s busiest aviation gateways. The investment will fund the construction of additional gate capacity, enabling Terminal A to accommodate growing passenger demand and larger aircraft operations. The expansion builds on the new Terminal A facility, which opened in phases beginning in 2023 and replaced the ageing Terminal A structure, delivering a modernised travel environment featuring improved concessions, technology and passenger flow design. The authorisation reflects the Port Authority’s continued commitment to investing in the region’s airport infrastructure as part of its broader capital programme, which also encompasses ongoing projects at John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport.
