Less-than-truckload carrier Old Dominion Freight Line saw yield growth accelerate in August, but tonnage remained slightly negative, according to a Thursday update. The Thomasville, North Carolina-based company’s daily revenue increased 12. 4% year over year in August, an improvement from the 8. 2% y/y growth rate logged in July. However, diesel fuel prices increased 46% y/y in August compared with a 31% y/y increase in July.

Maersk revises waiting time allowance in Civitavecchia

Maersk will reduce its waiting time allowance for local transport operations in Civitavecchia, Italy, from 1 October 2026. The allowance will decrease from three hours to two hours, calculated from the truck’s arrival at the loading or unloading premises. The revised limit will apply to both export and import shipments. The issue follows APSEZ’s decision to freeze empty-yard codes outside the port limits from September 1. Shipping lines are now required to nominate empty containers to designated facilities within the Mundra Port/SEZ area. APSEZ has said the change is intended to address misuse of empty-depot codes, improve security, reduce road congestion and improve vehicle turnaround. The reasons for reviewing the existing arrangement are understandable.

Department of Transportation has unveiled “America’s Great Corridors of Commerce,” a federal initiative designed to convert existing highway and railroad rights‑of‑way into shared corridors for electric transmission, fiber optic cables, water pipelines and other critical utilities. The voluntary program, run through DOT’s Build America Bureau, is intended to accelerate utility deployment, cut permitting timelines and create a new revenue stream to help repair roads, bridges, tunnels and rail lines along the same corridors, according to the department. Under the initiative, state departments of transportation and railroads could lease portions of land alongside roads, tracks or in shared utility tunnels to private “corridor managers” that would oversee the design, development, operation and maintenance of the added infrastructure.
