KR and Hanwha Ocean develop two 18,000-cbm LNG bunkering vessel concepts

Korean Register (KR) and Hanwha Ocean will jointly develop two concepts for an 18,000-cbm LNG bunkering vessel. The companies signed a memorandum of understanding on 16 September during Gastech 2026 in Bangkok. The project will explore two different cargo containment systems for ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operations. Two cargo tank solutions under development The first vessel concept will use Hanwha Ocean’s MCTIB system, an independent Type-B cargo tank made from high-manganese steel. The second will use independent Type-C tanks.
