HMM signs $3.4 billion long-term shipping contract with Vale

HMM has signed a 25-year shipping contract with Vale worth approximately KRW 4. 7 trillion (US$3. 4 billion) . Under the agreement, HMM will transport iron ore for the Brazilian mining company from 2030. The latest deal is HMM’s third major long-term contract with Vale.

The Panama Canal Authority has postponed a planned reduction in the maximum authorized draft for vessels transiting the neopanamax locks, keeping the current 14. 63-meter (48-foot) limit in place. A previously announced reduction to 47. 5 feet, which was scheduled to take effect on October 1, has been delayed following the waterway’s latest review of Gatun Lake levels and weather projections. Maersk introduces new Mediterranean peak season surcharges

Maersk will introduce new Peak Season Surcharges (PSS) on cargo moving from the Mediterranean to the United States and Canada. The new charges will take effect on 7 October 2026 and will remain in place until further notice. West Mediterranean surcharge set at $250 per container For cargo moving from the West Mediterranean to the United States and Canada, Maersk will apply a surcharge of US$250 per container . The rate applies to 20-foot, 40-foot, 45-foot high-cube dry and 40-foot reefer containers. The origin scope includes ports in South West Europe and Central South Europe.
