Hapag-Lloyd completes acquisition of 25% stake in APM Terminals Maasvlakte II

Hapag-Lloyd has completed the acquisition of a 25% stake in APM Terminals Maasvlakte II in Rotterdam, following unconditional approval from the relevant antitrust authorities. The transaction, initially announced in August 2026, strengthens the German carrier’s terminal portfolio through Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT), its dedicated terminal and infrastructure business. The investment also secures long-term access to container handling capacity at Maasvlakte II, a major European hub for the Gemini Cooperation between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk. “We are very pleased to have completed this transaction and become a shareholder in Maasvlakte II,” said Dheeraj Bhatia, CTIO of Hapag-Lloyd and CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals. “Together with APM Terminals, we look forward to supporting the terminal’s continued growth and development, creating long-term value for our customers and further strengthening Rotterdam’s role as a major European gateway,” Bhatia added.
