The transaction, initially announced in August 2026, strengthens the German carrier’s terminal portfolio through Hanseatic Global Terminals (HGT), its dedicated terminal and infrastructure business. The investment also secures long-term access to container handling capacity at Maasvlakte II, a major European hub for the Gemini Cooperation between Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk. “We are very pleased to have completed this transaction and become a shareholder in Maasvlakte II,” said Dheeraj Bhatia, CTIO of Hapag-Lloyd and CEO of Hanseatic Global Terminals. “Together with APM Terminals, we look forward to supporting the terminal’s continued growth and development, creating long-term value for our customers and further strengthening Rotterdam’s role as a major European gateway,” Bhatia added.
