The 2027 class marks the eighth year of the FreightTech Awards. This year drew a record number of nominations, reflecting the growing competition among companies developing technology for the freight and supply chain industries. For 2027, the FreightTech100 will be celebrated in person at the inaugural F3 Awards Dinner on Monday, Oct. 26 in Chattanooga, alongside the Shipper of Choice Awards and FreightTech25.

ICTSI orders 12 Kalmar hybrid straddle carriers for new Philippine terminal

International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) has ordered 12 hybrid straddle carriers from Kalmar for its new South Luzon Container Terminal (SLCT) in the Philippines. Port of Long Beach positions rail as key to future trade growth

Port of Long Beach CEO Dr Noel Hacegaba used the port’s Supply Chain Insight media briefing to make the strategic case for rail infrastructure as the central enabler of the port’s long-term ambition to double annual cargo volumes to 20 million containers by 2050, with the Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility identified as the most critical ongoing investment in that direction. Hacegaba highlighted the shifting geography of US trade, with Vietnam now established as the Port of Long Beach’s second-largest trading partner behind China, reflecting the broader trend of companies diversifying sourcing and manufacturing away from a single country. He noted that the longer transit times associated with Southeast Asian origins make on-dock rail connectivity more strategically important, not less, as speed to market becomes the defining competitive variable for West Coast ports.
