Transpac spot rate climb takes a holiday as Golden Week arrives

The beginning of China’s Golden Week national holiday yesterday appears to have coincided with a plateauing of the strong pricing peak that persisted on the transpacific trades throughout September. “Spot rates from Far East to the US ticked up again on 1 October, but we can say with a level of confidence that the market has reached its post-Hormuz crisis peak in 2026,” said Xeneta chief analyst Peter Sand. The data signals ... The post Transpac spot rate climb takes a holiday as Golden Week arrives appeared first on The Loadstar .

Shippers urged to check routings as alliances redraw Asia–S America trade

Maersk has lost both its partners on Asia–East Coast South America in three months, and what looks like a local reshuffle is the alliance map redrawing on a trade the alliances never formally covered. In September, Zim quit Maersk’s ASAS loop to launch the AS3/ZFS with Hapag-Lloyd; yesterday, Maersk and CMA CGM said they would end their joint ASAS2/SEAS3 service, with the last sailing leaving Shanghai on 8 December; and CMA ... Pressure on India-US trades as Colombo becomes a transhipment hot-spot

Colombo’s increasing popularity as a transhipment hub is heaping cost pressure onto forwarders and shippers on the India-US tradelane, the Sri Lankan gateway’s newfound revenue stream having provoked a worsening tide of congestion. Recognising India is facing its own congestion issues, particularly at Mundra and Nhava Sheva, CH Robinson said Colombo’s status as a transhipment hot-spot was elevating the risks of rolled cargo. “When mainline services omit Colombo to recover schedules, South ... Counting the billions with Mærsk and Hapag

Hapag-Lloyd duly raised its 2026 profit guidance this week – a palatable appetiser before Mærsk, its partner in the Gemini shipping alliance, does the same (again) in a month’s time? Those in the bull camp think so. The Danish carrier, which reports third-quarter results on 5 November, is forecast to disclose quarterly Ebitda ranging between $5. 4bn and $5. 5bn, up about 80% on the second quarter and roughly double a year ago.

Aviation Connect: air cargo’s favourite event, but with an unfortunate early dip…

Athens provided the backdrop for Aviation Connect 2026 this week, with sunshine, warm temperatures, and the occasional rain shower – a fittingly changeable setting for an event that had plenty going on. The Tuesday-to-Thursday event spread delegates across a collection of rooms and tracks covering pharma, GSSAs, air cargo handling, cargo airport development, road feeder services, airline ground services, GSE, and ramp operations. It is one of the things that makes Aviation ... The post Aviation Connect: air cargo’s favourite event, but with an unfortunate early dip… appeared first on The Loadstar .

‘Data centers are the new ports’ – and APEC finance ministers want to fund them

Later this month, finance ministers from APEC‘s 21 member economies meet in Hong Kong, the first time the city has hosted the gathering. On their table is a digital infrastructure financing initiative, prepared with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), aimed at funding gaps in broadband, cloud computing and data centers. It will be presented as development policy. Shippers, forwarders and port operators should read it as trade policy, because data centers ... Flydubai Cargo unveils routes for freighter network launch

Flydubai has had an interesting week – but the drama on the Tel Aviv flight rather overshadowed its launch of a freighter service in a bid to catch growing demand for ecommerce, specialised shipments and regional trade ill-served by narrowbody belly capacity. Yesterday, the airline introduced three B737-800 freighters, each capable of carrying 23 tonnes of payload, giving flydubai Cargo its own scheduled capacity for the first time. “We have seen strong ...
