Counting the billions with Mærsk and Hapag

Hapag-Lloyd duly raised its 2026 profit guidance this week – a palatable appetiser before Mærsk, its partner in the Gemini shipping alliance, does the same (again) in a month’s time? Those in the bull camp think so. The Danish carrier, which reports third-quarter results on 5 November, is forecast to disclose quarterly Ebitda ranging between $5. 4bn and $5. 5bn, up about 80% on the second quarter and roughly double a year ago.
