DP World expands crane capacity at London Gateway and Southampton

DP World is expanding container handling capacity at its UK terminals with the arrival of new quay cranes at London Gateway and Southampton. Two cranes have arrived fully assembled at London Gateway following a journey from Shanghai. Each weighs more than 2,000 tonnes and stands nearly 150 metres high. The cranes will be installed at the new all-electric Berth 5, which is currently under construction as part of DP World’s £1 billion expansion of London Gateway. The berth is scheduled to become operational in 2027.

Nippon Express launches five-day US delivery option for Asia–US ocean freight

Nippon Express has expanded its NX Ocean Fast Track service with a new option offering delivery from the Port of Los Angeles to major destinations across the United States within five days. The new service, called US 5-Day Cross, covers shipments from Tokyo, Shanghai and Haiphong via Los Angeles to destinations across the US. It builds on NX Ocean Fast Track, which Nippon Express launched in June. The existing service is designed to move containers from the Port of Los Angeles within 24 hours of arrival. Faster inland delivery from Los Angeles Under the new option, cargo receives priority transshipment at Nippon Express warehouses near the Port of Los Angeles.

Counting the billions with Mærsk and Hapag

Hapag-Lloyd duly raised its 2026 profit guidance this week – a palatable appetiser before Mærsk, its partner in the Gemini shipping alliance, does the same (again) in a month’s time?
