World’s first ethanol-capable VLOC engine completes R&D test
Everllence has completed an R&D test of what it says is the world’s first G80 ethanol-capable engine . HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Engine and Machinery Division carried out the test in South Korea. The engine will power the third vessel in a series of 10 Very Large Ore Carriers (VLOCs) ordered by Shandong Shipping. The vessels will be chartered to Brazilian mining and logistics company Vale. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for early 2027.
