Hapag-Lloyd adds US$250/TEU reefer congestion surcharge at Tema

Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a new congestion surcharge for reefer containers shipped to Tema, Ghana. The Congestion Destination Surcharge (CGD) will be set at US$250 per TEU . Surcharge takes effect in October The surcharge will apply to reefer shipments originating from Africa, Asia, Oceania, the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. It will apply to all relevant sailings commencing on 5 October 2026 . The carrier announced the surcharge specifically for refrigerated containers moving to Tema.
