A commercial truck inspection at a Pennsylvania weigh station led U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers to arrest a driver wanted on federal wire fraud charges. Simranpal Singh was taken into custody Sept. 4 while an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officer was conducting inspections of commercial vehicles at a weigh station in Newberry, Pennsylvania, according to the Department of Homeland Security, according to a news release .

DHL to acquire Colombian logistics operator Open Market

DHL Supply Chain has agreed to acquire Colombian logistics and transport operator Open Market, expanding its warehousing, transport and temperature-controlled capabilities in the country. The acquisition supports DHL Group’s Strategy 2030 and strengthens its position in Colombia and the wider Latin American market. The transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions. DHL did not disclose its financial terms. Acquisition adds 21 warehouses Open Market will add 21 warehouses covering a combined area of 120,000 m² to DHL Supply Chain’s Colombian network.

Savannah port moves 1 million TEUs to start fiscal year

The Port of Savannah handled 529,523 TEUs in August, essentially flat from a year earlier, as weather disruptions in Asia and Panama constrained supply-chain activity despite continued customer demand. Savannah’s August volume was down less than 1% year over year. Loaded exports rose 4. 2%, or nearly 4,700 twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs), to 117,242 TEUs, while loaded imports increased 1. 5%, or about 3,800 TEUs, to 265,859 TEUs.
