Readers Speak: Maersk’s Suez return divides expectations over March deadline

The prospect of Maersk completing its return to the Suez Canal by March 2027 has generated differing expectations across the container shipping industry, reflecting uncertainty over the pace at which services may resume using the route. In its latest Readers Speak poll, Container News asked readers: “Will Maersk complete its Suez Canal return by March 2027?” The responses revealed a closely divided outlook between those expecting a full return on schedule and those anticipating only a partial restoration of services. A considerable number of readers also considered it too early to make a prediction, while others expected security concerns to delay the process. Partial Suez return narrowly leads expectations A partial return by March emerged as the most frequently selected outcome, although support for a complete return within the same timeframe was almost equally strong.
