Port of Oakland recorded export surge

The Port of Oakland handled 173,818 TEUs in August 2026, with full exports increasing 2. 9% from July. Combined loaded cargo totalled 131,666 TEUs, down 9% compared to August 2025, while empty container volume reached 42,152 TEUs, down 11. 4% year-on-year. The port recorded 82 vessel calls in August, compared to 90 in the same month last year.

China’s Jiangyin and Nanjing have become the latest Yangtze River ports to demonstrate ocean-going ambitions.
