Port of Los Angeles records lowest emissions per container

The Port of Los Angeles has released its 2025 Inventory of Air Emissions, recording its lowest emissions per container on record and continuing a two-decade trend of significant reductions alongside growing cargo volumes. In 2025, the port handled nearly 10. 2 million TEUs while achieving year-on-year declines across all major pollutants: diesel particulate matter fell 2%, nitrogen oxides declined 4%, sulfur oxides dropped 5% and greenhouse gases decreased 3% compared to 2024. The NOx reduction marked the lowest annual total for that pollutant since the port began tracking emissions in 2005. Since 2005, the port has reduced DPM by 90 percent, NOx by 72 percent, SOx by 98 percent and GHGs by 16%, while container volumes have increased 37%.

ABP makes two appointments at Humber container terminals

Associated British Ports has made two significant appointments at its Humber container terminals, strengthening strategic and operational leadership across the ports of Immingham and Hull as the terminals continue to grow. Jamie Pearson has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Unitised Operations for the Humber, a position created to provide dedicated strategic leadership for a region that has seen container terminal volumes grow by more than 40% over the past five years. Jamie, who has worked for ABP for nine years and progressed through the business, will also oversee the two border control posts and future ABP RoRo opportunities. His former role as Immingham Container Terminal Manager has been filled by the promotion of Alex Pickett, who joined ABP eleven years ago as a Mechanical Apprentice and most recently served as Engineering Lead overseeing crane operations at ICT. Together, the Humber container terminals offer 26 vessel calls per week connecting to destinations across Europe and beyond, with ABP having invested GBP 50 million in the facilities including new reachstackers and terminal management systems supporting more than 500,000 TEUs annually.
