Port of Los Angeles has elected new president and vice president

The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners has unanimously elected Beatrice Hsu as president of the five-member board overseeing the Port of Los Angeles, with Yolanda De La Torre elected vice president. Both leadership terms are for one year. Hsu was appointed to the Harbor Commission by Mayor Karen Bass and confirmed by the Los Angeles City Council in June, succeeding former Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard, who stepped down from the Commission in July. A longtime civic and business leader, Hsu is an independent advisor specialising in real estate development, asset management and investments, and has previously held leadership positions at Brookfield Properties and Related California. She has served on various nonprofit, government and corporate boards, including as board member, board president and interim CEO of Los Angeles World Airports, and is founding CEO of Builders Alliance, established to accelerate rebuilding following the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires.
