Port of Houston activity supports nearly $1 trillion in US economic value

Port of Houston activity supported $986. 9 billion in annual economic value across the United States in 2025, according to a new study by Martin Associates. The study covered marine cargo moving through public and private facilities along the Houston Ship Channel. Collectively, these facilities form the Port of Houston. Cargo and vessel activity supported 3,526,686 jobs nationwide.

DP World reportedly shutting down SeaRates digital freight platform

Port terminal operator DP World is discontinuing SeaRates, its standalone digital logistics platform, according to a published report. A LinkedIn post by SeaRates founder Sergey Dzhashytov wrote that he had been receiving questions about the “discontinuation of SeaRates digital services” and said companies that relied on those services were seeking alternatives. His public profile indicates that his DP World operating role ended in March 2026 and that his listed tenure as founder and chief executive of SeaRates. com ended in May 2026. The SeaRates website was still operating as of Thursday with no public announcement posted there or on the DP World site.
