Port Houston advances 318-acre Barbours Cut container terminal expansion

Port Houston’s proposed major expansion of the Barbours Cut container terminal has moved into the regulatory review stage, as the port prepares for future growth in container volumes. The Barbours Cut Northside Expansion Project proposes the development of a new 318-acre marine container terminal in La Porte, Texas. The Texas General Land Office (GLO) opened a 30-day public comment period for the project on 18 September as part of the federal consistency review process. The consultation will remain open until 18 October. New terminal planned for larger container vessels Under the proposal, Port Houston would develop two new vessel berthing slips capable of accommodating two Ultra Large Container Vessels.
