Major bulk agri-hub opens at port of Tilbury

A purpose-built bulk storage and handling facility has opened at Berth 43 at the Port of Tilbury for Cefetra, one of the UK’s major traders of grains and animal feed raw materials. The facility, spanning approximately 14,000 square metres, equivalent to two full-sized football pitches, has been designed around direct vessel discharge operations to improve efficiency and reduce cargo handling movements, with capacity for up to 65,000 tonnes of imported animal feed products including soyabean meal. The facility strengthens the Port of Tilbury’s position as a leading UK gateway for agricultural commodities and bulk cargoes, supporting the efficient import, storage and distribution of animal feed products into the South and East of England through the port’s specialist cargo-handling and logistics capabilities on the Thames.
