Maersk updates intermodal fuel fees in Australia and New Zealand
Maersk will revise its Intermodal Fuel Fee in Australia and New Zealand from 1 September 2026. The carrier attributed the adjustments to higher global energy prices and the evolving security situation in the Middle East. Maersk noted that approximately 20% of global fuel passes through the Strait of Hormuz. According to the company, current conditions have increased costs for inland and intermodal transport operations. Intermodal Fuel Fee levels From 1 September 2026, Maersk will apply the following monthly adjustments: Country or state Intermodal Fuel Fee New Zealand +20% Victoria +23% New South Wales +23% Queensland +23% South Australia +23% Western Australia +23% The charges will appear as EFS for Export Fuel Surcharge and IFS for Import Fuel Surcharge.
