Maersk introduces new surcharges across Mediterranean and Durban trades

Maersk has announced new surcharge measures covering Mediterranean exports to North America and cargo moving from Asia and the Middle East to Durban. The changes include a US$250 Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from the Mediterranean to the United States and Canada. Maersk has also clarified the scope of its congestion fee for Durban. Mediterranean-US and Canada PSS set at US$250 From 5 October 2026 , Maersk will introduce a PSS of US$250 per container from both the West and East Mediterranean to the United States and Canada. The surcharge applies to all dry container types, including 20-foot, 40-foot and 45-foot high-cube equipment.
