Maersk introduces landbridge surcharge for Saudi Arabia cargo

Maersk has introduced an Intransit/Landbridge Haulage surcharge (IT1) for shipments from the Far East and Oceania to selected destinations in Saudi Arabia. The surcharge applies to cargo destined for Dammam, the Dammam Free Zone Bonded Area and Riyadh. It covers the trucking movement from Sharjah (SHJ) to Khor Fakkan (KHO). The new charges took effect on 22 August 2026. Intransit and landbridge charges The following rates apply per container across all three destinations: Equipment Charge 20′ dry container USD 1,400 40′ dry, 40′ high-cube dry and 45′ high-cube dry container USD 2,700 20′ reefer container USD 1,600 40′ high-cube reefer container USD 3,000 The IT1 surcharge applies to: Dammam Dammam Free Zone Bonded Area Riyadh Maersk noted that feeder-related charges will remain part of the ocean freight component.
