Maersk confirms order for 26 18,600 TEU vessels

Maersk has confirmed an order for 26 LNG-fuelled container ships, each with a capacity of 18,600 TEU. According to DynaLiners, the agreement follows earlier market speculation that the Danish carrier was considering up to 42 new vessels with capacities ranging from 18,000 to 24,000 TEU. The confirmed order will add approximately 484,000 TEU of capacity. It will also expand Maersk’s current orderbook by around 28%, bringing the total close to 2. 2 million TEU.
