Kongsberg-led project targets wider adoption of wind propulsion in shipping

Kongsberg Maritime and a group of Norwegian maritime companies and research institutions have launched WINTEGRATE , a project aimed at accelerating the use of wind propulsion in commercial shipping. The project has secured up to NOK 68 million through Norway’s Green Platform programme. WINTEGRATE will focus on integrating Wind Assisted Propulsion Systems (WAPS) with other onboard technologies. These include propulsion, power management, weather routing and vessel control systems. Odfjell and Seatrans vessels to support testing The project will examine technologies including rotor sails and suction wings .
