Kalmar wins crane maintenance contract at TTI Algeciras

Kalmar has signed a maintenance agreement with Total Terminal International Algeciras (TTI Algeciras) in Spain. The Kalmar Care agreement covers 40 cranes at the container terminal. These include eight ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and 32 automated stacking cranes (ASCs). Under the contract, Kalmar will provide preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance for the equipment. The company booked the order in its third-quarter 2026 order intake.

SAAM Towage christens Petrel tugboat in Arica

SAAM Towage has officially christened the SAAM Petrel in Arica, Chile, as the tugboat supports port operations in the region. The ceremony brought together local authorities, port representatives and SAAM employees. SAAM Petrel is the first tugboat in the company’s Chilean fleet to meet IMO Tier III emissions standards. The standards aim to significantly reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. The vessel has an 80-tonne bollard pull capacity.

CHP officer killed in Highway 99 crash with semi-truck on major Central Valley freight route

California Highway Patrol Officer Brian Liles died after his motorcycle collided with a truck-tractor Sunday evening. Another passing vehicle then struck the officer after the initial impact. The crash happened along State Route 99 near Tipton, California. Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but Liles died at the scene. Liles, 44, rode a department-issued motorcycle northbound when the collision occurred south of Avenue 152.
