HPC delivers business case identifying viable development for Port of Newcastle

HPC Hamburg Port Consulting has delivered the final business case for Port of Newcastle’s proposed Clean Energy Precinct, a 220-hectare development intended to enable the future production, storage, handling and export of clean energy products including hydrogen and hydrogen-derived fuels. The study examined alternative ownership, governance and commercial structures to support future investment and development decisions. The assessment identified two distinct development pathways capable of creating sustainable long-term value, giving Port of Newcastle flexibility in determining how actively it wishes to participate in the emerging clean energy economy. The business case combines market analysis, commercial design and detailed financial modelling to assess future demand scenarios, revenue potential, investment requirements and project risks, alongside the strategic conditions required to unlock the precinct’s long-term value, including market development, customer commitments and phased infrastructure delivery.
