Hapag-Lloyd introduces US$155/TEU Panama Canal charge
Hapag-Lloyd will introduce a new Panama Canal Charge for shipments from Oceania to the US East Coast and Latin America. The new charge will be set at US$155 per TEU . Charge takes effect in October The Panama Canal Charge will apply to applicable shipments from 17 October 2026 . For shipments subject to US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) tariff filing and notice requirements, the effective date will follow the applicable regulatory requirements. Hapag-Lloyd said the surcharge will be applied according to the relevant tariff terms.
