Hanwha commercialises eco-friendly power cable

Hanwha Solutions Wire and Cable Division has completed customer validation of CHBA-8241RC, an eco-friendly power cable jacket compound incorporating recycled content, and is moving forward with full-scale commercialisation following successful manufacturing trials and quality validation with cable manufacturers in the first half of 2026. CHBA-8241RC is a high-density polyethylene-based compound containing 50% post-consumer recycled plastic content, developed using Hanwha Solutions’ proprietary technology. The product reduces carbon emissions by approximately 34% compared to conventional alternatives while maintaining equivalent performance characteristics, enabling the production of sustainable power cables without compromising quality or reliability. The successful commercialisation expands Hanwha Solutions’ portfolio from extra-high-voltage insulation materials to sustainable cable jacket compounds, supporting the development of lower-carbon power infrastructure across global markets.
