Hull fined £30,000 and three supporters banned over discriminatory chanting

Hull City have been fined £30,000 over discriminatory chanting, the club confirmed. The club also issued three supporter bans following their FA Cup defeat by Chelsea in February. BBC Sport reported the sanctions and the timing of the bans. The combined measures include the monetary penalty imposed on the club and individual bans for supporters identified in the aftermath of the match. Hull’s fine and the bans follow the incidents of discriminatory chanting at the Chelsea fixture in February, and represent disciplinary action taken in response to that conduct.

Community angle

The case shows that clubs can face financial penalties while individual fans may receive bans when discriminatory chanting occurs at matches.
