Exports of Mexican-made vehicles to the US rose in August

Mexico’s automotive industry posted mixed results in August, as light-vehicle production declined from a year ago while exports increased, according to new data from the country’s National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI). Automakers produced 344,940 light vehicles in Mexico during August, down 1. 4% from 349,951 units in the same month last year. Exports totaled 300,475 vehicles, up 1. 3% from 296,734 in August 2025, representing an increase of 3,741 exported vehicles year over year.

E-commerce facilitator ShipStation eyes major global expansion

ShipStation, the largest provider of multi-carrier parcel shipping software for online merchants in North America, is planning to expand its international footprint through acquisitions and other means while also broadening freight transportation modes available on its platform, CEO Tom Madine said on the FreightWaves Today show . The automated shipping platform this week began facilitating less-than-truckload freight shipping in the same workflow customers use for parcel shipping and other logistics operations, a capability made possible by private equity owner Thoma Bravo’s summer acquisition of Worldwide Express Group and its portfolio of freight brokerage companies. Beyond more modal integration, ShipStation is eager to expand its logistics management technology offerings in Europe and other key markets, Madine said Sept. 1 during a live interview conducted at the company’s Austin, Texas headquarters. ShipStation currently operates in Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and Australia.

SAFEEN Drydocks has expanded its ship repair capacity with a new 230-metre floating dock at Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi. According to the company, the facility is the largest floating dock in the UAE . The dock has a lifting capacity of 21,000 tonnes . It will handle ocean-going commercial vessels and rig repair projects. New dock expands repair capacity The floating dock is positioned alongside 1,000 metres of quayside at Zayed Port.
