Hutchison Ports plans US$76 million upgrade at Karachi container terminal

Hutchison Ports Pakistan–SAPTL has outlined a US$76 million investment programme to modernise and expand its container terminal operations at Karachi Port. The programme will introduce new electric and remote-controlled cargo-handling equipment in phases through May 2028, according to Karachi Port Trust (KPT). The investment forms part of a broader modernisation drive at Karachi Port, which includes digitalisation, modern equipment, deeper and more efficient navigation, selective use of artificial intelligence and workforce development.
