NSR incumbents double down as newcomers join Arctic shipping push

Existing operators on the Northern Sea Route (NSR) are consolidating their interest in the sea lane as more new players prepare to enter the market. Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation (Rosatom) is finalising newbuilding orders for five 4,800 teu Arctic-class ships to be run by Northern Sea Route Shipping Line, its joint venture with Yangpu Newnew Shipping, currently the most frequent NSR user.
