CMA CGM updates peak season surcharges across major trades

CMA CGM has announced a series of Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) updates covering trades to Africa, Mauritius, Europe and the United States. The measures take effect between 21 September and 15 October, depending on the trade. China to Africa and Mauritius From 21 September, CMA CGM will apply new PSS levels on several trades from China to West Africa. For shipments from Central and South China to Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin and Equatorial Guinea, excluding Ghana and Togo, the surcharge will be US$50 per TEU. Cargo from China and its Special Administrative Regions to Ghana and Togo will face a US$150 per TEU surcharge.

Two EU-funded Horizon 2020 projects, PIONEERS and MAGPIE, have concluded five years of work by delivering a Green Port Master Plan to the European Commission alongside free digital tools available to any European port, extending the benefits of the work beyond the 90 partner organisations in the two consortia. PIONEERS, coordinated by the Port of Antwerp-Bruges with the ports of Barcelona, Venlo and Constanța, ran 19 demonstrations spanning clean energy, digital innovation and sustainable port design over the programme period. MAGPIE, coordinated by the Port of Rotterdam with HAROPA PORT, Sines and DeltaPort, tested 14 solutions across the same themes. Both projects were launched under the European Green Deal framework. The practical outputs are designed for broad adoption.
