CMA CGM announces new Asia-Africa surcharges for November

CMA CGM has announced a series of Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) updates covering shipments from Asia to several African destinations, with charges reaching US$900 per TEU on selected routes from China to West Africa. The revised surcharges will take effect on 1 November 2026 and cover shipments to West, East and Southern Africa, alongside Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and the Maldives. The French carrier has also announced a separate overweight surcharge for certain dry containers moving from China to East Africa. The highest announced PSS applies to shipments from China and its Special Administrative Regions (SARs) to the southern range of West Africa, covering Angola, Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Namibia, Gabon and Cameroon. For dry and reefer cargo moving to these destinations under short-term contracts, CMA CGM will apply a surcharge of US$900 per TEU from 1 November, based on the loading date.
