CMA CGM’s first container train arrives at Hungary’s East-West Gate terminal

CMA CGM’s first container train has arrived at the East-West Gate (EWG) intermodal terminal in Fényeslitke, Hungary, marking a new development in the facility’s growing role in international container logistics. The arrival follows the introduction of Maersk’s container depot and dry port services at the terminal earlier in 2026. The presence of both shipping companies reflects growing interest in the terminal’s connections between European rail networks and international maritime transport. Located near the Hungarian–Ukrainian border, East-West Gate connects Ukraine’s broad-gauge railway system with Europe’s standard-gauge network. East-West Gate expands its role in container logistics The terminal was originally developed to support rail freight movements between China and Central and Eastern Europe through Ukraine.
