China tightens export oversight with new technology and drone controls

China has announced new export control measures covering selected advanced technologies and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), introducing additional compliance requirements for exporters and international logistics providers. The measures, outlined in separate announcements by China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) in October 2026, affect technology transfers, export authorizations and customs documentation. While some requirements have already taken effect, further controls are scheduled to become applicable in November, giving businesses different deadlines to assess their export compliance obligations. New requirements for advanced technologies Under Announcement No. 48 of 2026, MOFCOM and the Ministry of Science and Technology proposed adding 40 technologies to China’s Catalogue of Technologies Prohibited or Restricted from Export.
