Canada imposes counter-tariffs on several US goods

Canada will impose counter-tariffs on several US goods from 8 September 2026, according to the Department of Finance Canada. The measures respond to the United States’ decision to introduce a 50% tariff on $27. 6 billion of Canadian goods from 22 August. Canada said it would match the US Section 338 tariffs dollar for dollar. Tariffs target several sectors The Canadian counter-tariffs will apply at rates of 15%, 25% and 50%.
