Beyond visibility: Building a supply chain that can act when conditions change

Most supply chain teams have more visibility than they did a few years ago. They can see disruptions sooner, track freight in real time, and understand when a shipment is at risk. But seeing a problem and solving it are two different things. When capacity tightens, a border crossing closes, or rates move beyond a routing guide, teams still need to make a decision: change carriers, shift modes, reroute freight, or wait. And then they need the capacity and operational support to make that change happen.

ICE launches tip line to report CDL fraud as crackdown widens

U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has launched a tip line for reporting suspected commercial driver’s license fraud, expanding the federal government’s escalating crackdown on alleged fraud and unsafe practices in the trucking industry. ICE announced Tuesday that its Homeland Security Investigations division is partnering with the Department of Transportation on the initiative. “ICE @HSI_HQ and the Department of Transportation are cracking down on CDL fraud to save American lives,” the agency said in a social media post.

World container volumes post record 17.3 million TEUs in July

Global container throughput reached an all-time monthly high in July 2026, as resilient world trade grappled with operational constraints and disruptions from the Iran war. Revised data from carriers show July 2026 lifting totaled 17. 3 million twenty foot equivalent units (TEUs), according to Container Trade Statistics, setting a new monthly record roughly 25,000 TEUs above the previous high set in May 2026. Year-to-date global volumes through July are up 5. 1% versus the same period in 2025, while July alone was 4.

Lufthansa to buy cargo terminal operator in Germany

Lufthansa Cargo, the logistics subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa Group, has agreed to acquire airport service provider LUG air cargo handling GmbH, as it recognizes that efficient transfer operations are a way to reduce slowdowns on the ground for customers expecting fast freight service. LUG provides cargo handling and distribution at Frankfurt, Munich and Hamburg airports in Germany. The purchase immediately gives Lufthansa Cargo ( XETRA: LHA ) more capacity to handle its own shipments, while diversifying its revenue stream with business from other airlines require ground handling services, the company said on Tuesday. The transaction is subject to regular antitrust and regulatory reviews. LUG will continue to operate as independent company and customers will not experience any change in service.

Fincantieri to support transfer of two FREMM frigates to Greece

Fincantieri will play a key role in the transfer of two FREMM frigates from Italy to Greece . Italy and Greece signed an Implementing Arrangement in Rome covering the transfer of Carlo Bergamini and Virginio Fasan . Both vessels are currently in service with the Italian Navy. The two frigates will be transferred to the Hellenic Navy, with Fincantieri supporting the process. Fincantieri to provide long-term support The agreement follows a Memorandum of Cooperation and Declaration of Intent signed by Italy and Greece in September 2025.
