Ambitious Cosco’s spending spree takes box ship orderbook to new high

China’s Cosco Shipping has its sights becoming a top-three carrier by adding more ships, potentially pushing Maersk Line down the pecking order. Last week, the liner operator commissioned a dozen 22,000 teu LNG dual-fuelled ships from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and six at 3,200 teu from CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding.
