ONE and ClassNK study roll damping tanks on large boxships

Ocean Network Express (ONE) and classification society ClassNK have launched a joint research project to measure the effectiveness of roll damping tanks on large container ships. ONE will provide operational data collected onboard its vessels. ClassNK will analyse the information alongside numerical simulations to assess how effectively the systems reduce rolling under actual operating and sea conditions. The research aims to establish a practical method for evaluating roll damping tanks during full-scale operations. The partners expect the findings to support safer vessel operations, improved cargo protection and greater transit reliability.
