Long Beach appoints new Chief Commercial Officer

The Port of Long Beach has appointed Bryan Brandes as Chief Commercial Officer and Managing Director of Commercial Operations, effective August 10. Brandes brings more than 30 years of shipping and ports industry experience to the role, which oversees the port’s business services, customer relationships, data technology and business resiliency and security operations across four divisions: Business Development, Tenant Services, Information Management and Security. Brandes joins from the Port of Oakland, where he served as Director of Maritime since 2020, leading all maritime operations, strategy and administration. Prior to that he served as Director of US West Coast Operations for CMA CGM and spent two decades with Maersk and APM Terminals, rising to Director of California Inland Operations. He holds an MBA from Claremont Graduate University and a Bachelor of Science from San Diego State University.
